I am Rachel Regalado, founder of Her Nourished Life and a Registered Dietitian dedicated to helping women take charge of their health in ways that fit their busy lives. Frequently Asked Questions

How should I prepare for our first session?
Know what medications and supplements you are taking, what medical conditions you have been diagnosed with. And most importantly, start thinking about what your goals are and what you want to get out of working with a dietitian. We’ll work together to create a wellness vision that helps you figure out what living a healthful life means to you and how we can best get you there.
What health insurance do you accept?
Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Blue CrossBlue shield at this time. I am currently working on being able to accept BlueShield of California, Cencal, Healthnet, and Medicare.
What if my health insurance plan does not cover your services?
I work with many major health insurance plans to get your services covered with almost no out-of-pocket cost. If your plan does not cover sessions with a dietitian, you can use your HSA or FSA funds to cover your sessions. You can also pay the cash rate with a credit or debit card.
Can I purchase a single session?
Yes. But as we all know habits are hard to change, and that’s where working with a dietitian is a game changer! Many of us know what healthful eating generally looks like- but we have a hard time IMPLEMENTING that knowledge. A single-session may be enough to provide a great deal of information—but if you struggle with sticking to your goals, working with me on a regular basis will help you overcome challenges and implement a strategy that works for you in the long run.
Do you create meal plans?
Yes and no. My goal is to teach you how to eat in alignment with your long-term goals and to stop the yo-yo dieting cycle many have spent their lifetimes on. Many people know how to diet, but don’t know how to eat intuitively. So they are either on a diet (and their eating is completely dictated by a diet plan) or off a diet (and falling back onto pretty unhealthful eating patterns). Giving a person a meal plan is simply another diet. I will work with you to teach you how to make any meal more healthful and in alignment with your goals.
What conditions do you work with?
I have experience helping people (adults and children) with the following health conditions and concerns:                                              
• Diabetes or pre-diabetes                                            
• HeartHealth (elevated cholesterol levels, high blood pressure)
• Weight concerns                                           
• Weight loss medications and/or surgeries
• Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH)
• PCOS
• Peri-menopause and menopause
• Disordered eating and/or emotional eating
• Healthy aging
What is your cancellation policy?
We request all cancellations be provided at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment. If an appointment is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice or a No-show occurs, the credit card on file will be charged for the full cost of the appointment. If an urgent need arises with less than 24 hours notice, please inform our office and we can reschedule the appointment—if an appointment is then rescheduled and then the rescheduled appointment is kept, the fee will not be charged.
